Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR’s highly-anticipated spy-action movie War 2 has been generating a lot of buzz due to its ensemble cast and adrenaline-pumping action. Directed by Ayan Mukerji, the film is a part of YRF’s Spy Universe and has locked the Independence Day weekend for its release.
Meanwhile, a report suggests that War 2 might face a three-way clash at the box office, as the makers of Aamir Khan and Sunny Deol’s Lahore: 1947 and Rajnikanth’s Coolie are also eyeing the same release date.
A source revealed to Bollywood Hungama, “Lahore: 1947 is a film that celebrates India’s independence, and what better than August 15 to release the film? They are strongly considering this date and will make an official announcement very soon.”
Another report stated that Aamir feels releasing the film during the holiday season would benefit the makers, “as it is set against the backdrop of the India–Pakistan partition, which also took place in August 1947. A final call on the date will be taken once the edit is locked,” reported Pinkvilla.
Directed by Rajkumar Santoshi, Lahore: 1947 will have an extended cameo by Aamir Khan, who is also producing the film. The movie boasts a talented cast, including Preity Zinta, Shabana Azmi, and Ali Fazal. The source further mentioned that Rajnikanth’s Coolie is one of the most awaited Tamil movies of 2025, and the producers have fixed Independence Day for its release. Interestingly, Coolie also features Aamir Khan in an extended cameo.
Directed by Lokesh Kannagraj, Coolie has completed around 70 percent of its shooting and is rumoured to be a part of LCU (Lokesh Cinematic Universe).
If these reports turn out to be true, it will be a big battle at the box office, as all three films feature prominent actors with a solid following.
